Patreon and May 15 launch
I don't normally send another newsletter so soon but things happened.

Reading & Patreon
reading launch
I mentioned the filming of early April. What an event. Outside the house where other people were. It's like Canada Day crowd to see more than two people at any given time, isn't it. Seeing a film of a kid blowing out birthday candles is a shocking movement of air. Candle snuffers for everyone. It's the next hot Covid ite.
Anyway, speaking of celebration and reading. Those videos have now been ably sliced and placed by Owen & Co. People can access the event by clicking the link at 7:30pm EST on Saturday, May 15. Until then it has a holding pattern then youtube launches the conversation and poetry reading at that time.
The series has, we believe, been on hiatus since 2018 but another filming is planned and more writers will be reading on the wee screen near you soon.
I'm pretty darn pleased that in just over 2 weeks I have gathered 177 followers on Instagram and many are people I've never heard of. Break hinges off the old doors and explore, yah? New people, that's heartening. Only one wanted to send money from Nigerian wealth. In case you missed it, my new instagram is www.instagram.com/pearlpiriepoet It's nice when people say they were there and click the wee heart.
Patreon
Nothing so humbling as tax time. Especially with talk of whether people making half a million a year should be taxed as if wealthy. At least I broke into 4 digits in 2020. No one enters literature for the money.
Still, I've thrown my hat in the ring at Patreon. If you pledge $2 or more a month before May 13th I'll mail you a hand-written postcard poem. At $5 you get a sticker, at $10 a postcard designed after one of my Instagram posts. With any amount you encourage and gain my thanks, and more Patreon only news updates and poem drafts and chapbooks. Thanks for considering it.
I'm super stoked that I have my first Patron, Ian.
Misc
If you want to see what I've done lately, I spent an afternoon renewing my author site. I hope it looks different now. It feels different. And y'know, updated. Let me toss another link at you. (Don't worry, they are soft foam links and don't injure.) www.pearlpirie.com
Coming soon is a text interview. Check out www.pearlpirie.com/blog for when that comes out. May 17th is the start of the Haiku Canada Week Conference. Registration should be up soon.
We’ll talk again. Tell me your news. Seriously.
